Community would be the operative
word for our PSR experience this year. We have had many
opportunities in the classroom and in the wider community
of Wadsworth this year for our students and for their
parents.
Our Confirmation candidates have
provided baked goods, which earned them $417.00 to share
with the bishop on October 23, when we will be celebrating
the Sacrament of Confirmation here at our parish. They
should be very proud of their efforts to provide three
families of Sacred Heart with goodies and food items for
their Easter baskets.
The Living Stations and Soup Supper was
a great community effort between the day school children
and the PSR students in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Next year, we would really like to have any home school
students who would like to be part of the Living Stations
to be involved with us.
We would also like to expand our Soup
Suppers to every Friday during Lent. If you would be
willing to chair this event for the 6 weeks during Lent,
please call me at my office. The organization is already
in place and we are looking for parishioners who would be
willing to provide a soup for one of the Friday evenings.
We need approximately six soups that will serve about 25
people.
We had three young people come into the
Church this
year
at the Easter Vigil through the Children's Catechumenate.
If you have a child who hasn't received his or her
sacraments yet and they are in the third grade or higher,
please consider this two-year process for your child to be
able to be a full member of the Church. Call my office at
any time and we will be happy to help you with your
child's sacraments.
We have had 83 second graders receive
the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist this year
at Sacred Heart. Please keep these children and their
famiies in your prayers as they continue on their journey
home to our heavenly Father one day.
Don't forget all volunteers are
expected to attend a VIRTUS workshop. The next meetings
here at Sacred Heart are, : Monday, October 11, from 6 to
9 p.m. and Monday, February 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.
