Have you ever wondered what it is
like inside the rectory? Well, about 35 lucky teenagers
got a glimpse of rectory life in January at Father Joe’s
annual Christmas party.
The
theme of the night was games and lots of pizza. I hear
that Father Joe usually schedules his annual carpet
cleaning for the day after the party.
At our last youth
group meeting before the party we heard from a guest
speaker from the Crisis pregnancy center in Barberton.
The youth group decided to make a donation to the center
by bringing a baby item to get into the party. Earlier
in November we took up a collection at our meeting to
benefit Toys for Tots. Over $50 was collected, which
enabled us to make a significant donation of toys for
the drive.
Music continues to
be a big part of our group. We spend 10 to 15 minutes of
each youth group meeting singing together in worship.
Spiritual growth continues at our bi-weekly meetings
where we have the opportunity to discuss the issues we
face daily and how they tie into our faith.
The high school
youth group, which is in its fifth year, is going
through some changes in leadership. Despite these
changes, our basic mission remains the same, to provide
an atmosphere of spiritual growth, social activity, and
service to our community. We look forward to a strong
and vibrant group for years to come. —JOSH WATSON
