"Intergenerational
event-based evangelization" is the new buzzword for
parish education. At Sacred Heart, we've been doing it
for eight years at our summer HeroesCamp! Grandmas as
counselors, grandpas building props, moms making crafts,
people with no kids in the program making costumes,
teens and middle school kids helping out, children ages
4 to 11 as campers, and even babies in the nursery.
We are in the
preparation stages right now. The HeroesCamp retreat and
potluck will be Sunday, April 25th at 6:00. This retreat
is for all volunteers and is open to anyone who would
like to learn more about five heroes of God, those who
lived for God alone. Bring a dish to share and come join
us for inspiration and fellowship! Camp registration
will be April 18, 25 and May 2
HeroesCamp itself
will be June 21-25. This year’s theme, "For God Alone:
the Forward March of the Church," stars Joshua and the
battle of Jericho, St. Paul and his trusty horse, Joan
of Arc, Mother Teresa, and finally our Hero of Heroes,
Jesus in the body of Christ in the Eucharist.
