You might ask yourself as you pick
up the Heartbeats Newsletter, what's new in the Parish
School of Religion? The answer is much the same as in the
past and many new things are being experienced!
You may recognize many of the people
that are on our staff, in the Early Education program for
the 4's and Kindergarten we have Mrs. Mauder, Mrs. Gerace
and Mrs. Ruddock; Elementary, Mrs. Beery, Mrs. Sisouphanh,
Mrs. Kilker, Mrs. Lutz, Mrs. Schade, Mrs. Campobenedetto,
Mrs. Morek, Mrs. Daull; Junior High, Mrs. Ciofani, Mrs.
Weishaar, Mrs. Bellinger, Mrs. Tipton, Mrs. Manning, Mrs.
Thompson, Mrs. Maul, Mr. Sorrent; Senior High, Mrs.
Roberts, Mr. Perry, Mr. Merced, Dr. Margarita Lassaletta;
and RCIA Children's Catechumenate, Mrs. LeFevre and Mrs.
Javins.
Our invaluable office staff include
Ruth Congrove, JoAnn Graham, Bob Hoover, Patty Wroblewski,
Angela Boland, Miranda Boland, and many parents who are
working in the classrooms assisting the catechists.
It is important that our community
be aware of the people who give so much of their time to
share their faith with our youth. We are very blessed to
have so many caring parishioners.
This year we will be working with
our children to look at the areas of service in our parish
community and in the wider community of Wadsworth. In the
second grade sacramental process, we have 52 children
enrolled in the PSR program and 37 in the Parish School.
Currently, there are 60 candidates
preparing for Confirmation, and 72 were confirmed by
Bishop Amos on October 25 at the 5 p.m. Mass.
The elementary program on Saturday
morning participated in the Pine Cone Birdfeeders as a
community project in honor of St. Francis. The children,
teachers, and parents worked together, which provided the
children with a very rich role model for how both young
and adult can have fun working together for the good of
the parish and of course to help feed the birds in the
winter.
Children in the second, third, and
eighth grade PSR and Parish School classes will be
actively participating in the closing ceremony on Sunday,
November 23. We will begin at 4 p.m. with the Rosary,
followed by Evening Prayer and Benediction at 4:30 p.m.
Many visiting clergy will be present for this annual
parish celebration.
ADVENT PREPARATION: This year,
Advent preparation will include collecting Pennies for
Heaven. Children will be asked to bring in their pennies
each week to help the poor in the Wadsworth and Akron
areas.
The confirmandi will be having two
bake sales this year. They are doing the baking and the
selling with the help of parents, after all the Masses,
the first week of November and the third week in February.
Your support in their project will be greatly encouraging
to our youth and help the poor in the larger community.
The proceeds from one bake sale last year raised $417,
which was presented to Bishop Amos at the Mass for
Confirmation.
We will have our third annual
Breakfast in Bethlehem for the children and their families
in grades 1 through 4, on Saturday, December 13 at 9 a.m.
in McMahon Hall. The fourth graders will start their
Corporal Works of Mercy service by helping with the
serving of the breakfast as well as enjoying the morning
with their families.
Please reserve your extra seats for
parents and younger siblings. There will be crafts and
story time and an Advent sing-along for everyone. Parents
are asked to help with shopping, preparations on Friday
evening and clean-up on Saturday following the breakfast.
Please call the Religious Education Office, 335-0029.
Our newest project is in the
creation stages-more on that in the next Heartbeats
Newsletter!
