Kids packed their knapsacks "full of prayers," made craft objects, watched skits, played games, ate snacks and sang songs as Sacred Heart Parish presented "Coming Home: The Embrace of God," this year’s HeroesCamp program.

Adult and teen volunteers spent months preparing for the camp, held June 24-27.

The Bible heroes for this year’s camp included Joseph, the dreamer of the Old Testament, Jeremiah the prophet, Saint Monica and her son Saint Augustine the prodigal, the visionary St Teresa of Avila, and Christ the King.

Each year, HeroesCamp includes one outdoor centerpiece to set the theme. This year, as shown in photo at top left on Page 4, the campers’ soccer field behind the school featured the "Gates of Heaven." Brian Pfeiffer and Courtney Falange are shown entering the Gates.

Another of the photos shows Danny Malkowski and Tommy Weber watching a heroic story unfold on stage.  Electric guitar music heightened the effect of the stories on the stage, Kids and their camp counselors made a rapt audience.
