Daniel Bellinger’s 7th and 8th grade Spanish classes had a distinguished visitor in February. Former Sacred Heart Pastor Father Paul Schindler, who went on to head the Cleveland Diocesan mission to El Salvador and now is at St. Bernard’s, Akron, brought slide photos from his January trip back to Central America. Sacred Heart School Report

By Tracey Arnone, principal

Sacred Heart School has been busy during the past few months! We celebrated Catholic Schools Week during the last week of January. Highlights included: Special Themed Dress up days, an Ice Cream Social, Science Fair and Science Pentathlon, a Dulcimer show, Buddy Lunch, and a Staff vs. Student volleyball game. A T.V. show, "Celebrate Sacred Heart School," aired on WCTV during Catholic Schools Week. This show is available on video for any parishioner who would like to view it. The show was taped and edited by parishioner Justin Cassedy (usher at 9:30 a.m. Mass).

Another exciting activity we began that involves parishioners working with our school children is our Monday morning Chess Club. Parishioners Jay Bajorek, Joe Buccitelli, Dick and Louise Ravetta, and some of our SHS parents guide our students in the game of chess at 8:00 a.m every Monday. This is a great way to motivate our students to start their school week off on a positive note.We have an average of 45 students every Monday!

Kindergarten Registration, New Student Registration and Reregistration to Sacred Heart is currently occurring. If you are interested in coming to our school, please call us (330-334-6272). We invite anyone interested to come for a tour of our school. Sacred Heart School offers both All Day and Half Day Kindergarten. We are proud of the strong academic and spiritual foundation that we give to our students.

Future projects of our school that we would welcome parishioner support of are: 1) the transformation of one of our tutoring rooms into a chapel for our school, and 2) the creation of a school garden outside our kindergarten room. We know that we have many parishioners who are "experts" that may be able to help us with both of these projects. Please call the school if you would like to help.

Again, we believe that our school is an integral part of our parish. We are thankful for the tremendous support the parish gives our school and we continue to look for ways to work together with our parishioners to make our parish a more vibrant community.
